WARRIORS: 5
SAFFORD HIGH SCHOOL: 4

It was a goal fest in Safford Tuesday night as the Warriors got their first win of the season Tuesday night beating the bulldogs 5-4!

Safford struck first when they scored off a free kick just over ten minutes into the game.

Taking almost exactly 20 minutes, the Warriors came storming back when Isaiah Ramierz (#15) scored on a perfect back-post cross by Deegan Trollope (#16) bringing the score back to one all

Four minutes later Kevin Chacon (#10) won a penalty in the Safford box which Elijah Ramirez (#31, gk) slotted home to make the score 2-1 to the warriors.

After two minutes Safford would tie the game again at 2-2 when an offside player made no play on the ball but caused the warrior defense to hesitate, allowing a Safford player to scoop the ball around Ramirez.

The Warriors wouldn’t go down though as Jacob Murphy (#13) got a long ball from Christian Hardenburg (#9, C) and played Trollope through on goal where he finished strong into the far post putting the warriors up 3-2 going into halftime.

Safford was awarded a penalty 10 minutes into the second half which they put past Elijah Ramirez making the score 3-3.

In the 60th minute Chacon worked his magic again, dribbling through several safford players and taking the ball deep into the box before sending a ball all the way across the box where Trollope pounced on it firing it into the lower near post for his second of the game and sending the warriors up 4-3.

Chacon was up to his tricks again in the 70th minute, weaving his way through the entire Safford back line and getting a shot off that squeaked under the goalkeeper before slowing down but thankfully Mason Tenge (#17) was there to punch home the final goal for the warriors making it a score of 5-3.

Safford would get one goal back off a corner kick before time expired with your Wariors the victors on a final score of 5-4.

The Warriors next game is Thursday 2/4 at home against Eastmark
