On Thursday night the Warriors tied the Coolidge Bears 3-3 in an intense game that ended in overtime.
The bears came out roaring putting in a goal early in the first half but the warriors responded less than five minutes later when Jaime Abollado-Zamorano (#11) played a ball across the box for Estevan Solis (#7) to put in the tying goal.
The game went into halftime with the score at 1-1
The Warriors came out in the second half with an adjusted formation focused more on the strength at the back shifting into a 4-2-3-1, not their usual 3-5-2.
It was a back and forth game as the Bears then scored again, putting them up 2-1 before Kevin Chacon(#10) scored his second goal of the season on a break away against the goalkeeper. Chacon outran the defender, before quickly outsmarting the keeper moving around to his left and slotting the ball home to tie the game.
Regulation would end at 2-2.
Overtime was played in two 10 minute halves with no golden goal or Penalty shoot-out should it end in a tie.
The first overtime was back and forth high energy with both teams desperate for a victory. Going into the second overtime the Warriors were down two starting player in Tanner Chamber (#18, C) and Diego Diaz (#14). Brandon Miller (#4) and Justyn “J-Money” Martos (#5) stepped up and assumed the center back role filling in for Chambers.
In the second Overtime, Coolidge earned yet another goal with only three and a half minutes left in the game. There was a momentary scare when the Wariors Goalkeeper Elijah Ramirez (#31) looked like he might need to come out of the game but was cleared by the trainer and continued on making several vital saves in the last several minutes.
With ONE minute left on the clock, Senior Ivan Marquez (#22) won a footrace down the left wing after being played through on a long ball, before squeezing the ball past the keeper with the outside of his foot to even the game at 3 all.
The game would end with that score as the Warriors were able to keep their unbeaten record to start the season!
The Warriors next game will be Tuesday at Safford.
