Amanda Otto Trost - Head Softball Coach
Coach Trost assumes the role of varsity head coach this year, after spending the past 4 years as the junior high coach as well as the assistant/pitching coach for the varsity and junior varsity high school teams. Coach Trost has extensive playing experience, playing high school softball at Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, Texas where she played all 4 years as a pitcher. From age 8 through high school she also played club ball, traveling all over Texas, Alabama, Missouri, and California. After high school, Coach Trost went on to play collegiate softball at Southern Virginia University where she pitched all 4 years. During two of those years, the softball team played at nationals in Ohio and Indiana. She received the USCAA All-American Award in 2009 and 2010 for her excellent playing.
During her college years, Amanda worked at Miracles Baseball Academy where she was an assistant coach for the Miracles Club Team. She also organized and directed softball clinics and coached pitching. She organized their yearly fundraiser banquet and golf tournament, which was a huge financial success for the academy.
Amanda has a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Child Development and a Bachelor’s Degree in Art with a minor in Biology. She is originally from Cypress, Texas and is a huge Houston Astros Fan. She lives in Florence with her supportive husband, Jonathan Trost, her beautiful 2-year old step-daughter Harley and recently gave birth to her son, Hendrix.
Coaching Philosophy: I am a coach because of my love for the game. I love to encourage each student-athlete to build a solid work ethic, to be open to growing and learning, and strive to be a leader both on and off the field. I am proud to create a positive environment that challenges these players to push past their own limitations and discover that they are capable of so much more. I believe in teaching and developing mental strength alongside physical strength. I believe in coaching with heart and passion and to give everything you have to everything you at all time. I hope to teach my players to bring that same fire to their playing. Finally, I believe as a coach I must be open to learn and grow myself, by continuously developing my skills and knowledge of the game.
